The article that positions you without selling
What this fixes: Losing to cheapest bid · No content · Weak differentiation · Price shoppers
This is the single most useful article your company can publish, and it never mentions how good you are.
The format is a list of questions a homeowner should ask any pond contractor before hiring them. Every question is one you can answer well. You are not attacking anyone. You are arming the homeowner, and a homeowner armed with these questions will disqualify the cheap bid without you having to say a word about it.
How to build it
Write down what actually separates your work from a cheap install. Underlayment, liner thickness, plumbing approach, rock setting versus stacking, filtration sizing, skimmer placement, warranty, insurance, cleanup, what happens if something fails in year three.
Turn each one into a question the homeowner should ask.
Examples of the shape
"What thickness liner do you use, and what goes under it?" Then explain what the answer tells them and what a good answer sounds like.
"How do you size the pump, and what will it cost me to run each month?" Most people never think about running cost until the first power bill.
"What happens if there is a leak in two years?" The answer separates real businesses from weekend operations.
"Can I see a project you finished three years ago, not three months ago?" Anything looks good the week it is built.
"Are you insured, and can I see the certificate?"
"Who is actually on site, and will the person I am talking to be there?"
Ten to fourteen questions is plenty.
The rules that make it work
Never name a competitor.
Never say "unlike other companies". The reader draws that conclusion themselves, which is the whole point.
Answer honestly, including where a cheaper approach is genuinely fine for some situations. Admitting that makes the rest believable.
Close with an offer to answer these questions about their specific project, and your phone number.
Where to use it
Link it from every service page. Send it with every proposal. It is the single best thing to put in a follow up email, because it does the selling while you say nothing.
